Recent hurricanes, wildfires, and other emergencies have illustrated, on a dramatic scale, the challenges that legal aid programs face responding to major disruptive events. At the same time, these events demonstrate how technology can be used effectively in short- and long-term relief efforts. This session will highlight online tools and social media strategies used in Texas, Puerto Rico, and elsewhere to rapidly mobilize legal response efforts, strengthen advocacy efforts, and reach affected communities with vital information to help them make informed decisions about their legal rights and recovery. The session will also highlight new online resources and networking opportunities available through
DisasterLegalAid.org.
