In building successful digital products, people often make a lot of assumptions. It's important to ground those assumptions, or validate them, through the collection of data. This session will focus on a variety of practical and affordable methods for data collection at various stages in the life cycle of a project. The panel will cover interviewing, mental models, surveys, prototyping, and randomized controlled trials. In addition, the panel will walk through case studies that show the results of their research and how they got there, including: how they chose participants: interview/testing guides they used, the analysis formats employed; and how they applied the results. The panel will highlight research conducted for the new Ohio Legal Help website and several Florida Justice Technology Center projects.
