This session will explore how chatbot technology can be incorporated into self-help legal websites to improve the experience of low-income people seeking online legal information. This session will highlight a project in Tennessee that is launching an Artificial Intelligence-driven, voice-activated bot on the HELP4TN statewide website, and how the self-guided legal chatbot:
  • Improves the efficiency and effectiveness of access;
  • Encourages and supports pro bono;
  • Addresses limited English and other special needs populations;
  • Delivers services remotely to hard-to-reach populations; and
  • Improves management and internal operations in legal aid offices.
The session will also address user testing; design of bot and prototype; usability testing and takeaways; and soft launch and demo.
