More than seven million seniors are living in poverty, and over half of senior households experience at least one legal problem in a year. Civil legal aid advocates will need to maximize efficiency to best achieve justice for this underserved and hard to reach population. In this session, attendees will learn about the growing use of technology among older adults and advocates and how technology can improve legal services delivery to older adults. This session will feature: the Elder Justice Navigator Program, which utilizes a partnership with the New York court system to enable elder abuse victims to obtain temporary family offense petitions remotely; Law Help Interactive Forms that will be designed to address elder abuse and financial exploitation;  and the Legal Risk Detector App, which is a web-based tool created for non-legal services providers to screen elderly clients for legal issues, generate a risk report and direct referral, currently deployed in several states. Panelists will share information about new technology, provide a demonstration, and offer tips for adopting these tools in the legal aid setting.
