This session will provide an update on an effort to connect thirteen rural court self-help centers throughout the State of California to enable them to provide joint workshops, increase capacity to serve litigants in languages other than English, and provide extensive legal information. The session will focus on lessons learned in the first two years of operation, including the challenges of changing models of practice and how the effort has expanded to developing common resources for workshops and trial preparation. The panel will also discuss how this effort has pointed to the need for additional staff training on new areas of law and service delivery techniques.
