Devi Patel is the Pro Bono Programs Manager at Legal Information for Families Today (LIFT). Ms. Patel is responsible for cultivating partnerships between LIFT and the private bar to support LIFT’s ongoing pro bono efforts. Ms. Patel supervises pro bono attorneys as they provide legal advice to pro se litigants navigating New York’s Family Courts. Ms. Patel oversees the day-to-day operations of Family Legal Connection, a unique LIFT program that connects self-represented litigants with trained pro bono attorneys who assist them with legal advice and counsel through a completely virtual platform. Ms. Patel is also responsible for creating partnerships with local law schools. Prior to joining Legal Information for Families Today, Ms. Patel was a staff attorney in the Economic Justice Project at Sanctuary for Families Center for Battered Women’s Legal Services and a Poverty Justice Solutions Fellow through the Center for Court Innovation. Ms. Patel represented domestic violence and trafficking survivors in various proceedings in Housing Court, public benefits fair hearings, administrative forums, and also provided legal advice to hundreds of New Yorkers as part of the Family Justice Center’s walk-in legal services. Ms. Patel earned her J.D. from New York Law School, where she was awarded the Alexander D. Forger Award for Distinguished Service to the Profession.
